Bruce's passion is to help organizations generate and increase value by simplifying their business functions to accelerate performance. He brings to the table over twenty years of experience and an outstanding track record of achievements spanning well over a billion dollars in technology investment. He has created and led dynamic technology organizations in the software, mobile satellite and telecommunications industry, in several countries around the world.
Bruce has a B.S. in computer science with a major in software engineering, and other postgraduate credentials in business, international project management and telecommunications. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and early in his career, he also trained and certified as a lead quality systems auditor.
Bruce lives in Canada with his wife and two children and enjoys finding new ways of balancing his passion for life, his interests in technology and his business conscience. Besides technology leadership, he nurtures a gift for photography and travels extensively. Bruce has held many senior business and technology roles through 20+ years in the Telco, Banking and Oilfield sectors internationally. He has worked closely with the likes of Cisco, Ericsson, Alcatel, Motorola and Pioneer to name a few. He began his career in the late '80s, teaching programming & developing Financial & Vertical Market software. He currently works in a public sector leadership role in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.
Previously, as part of Chatr Wireless's leadership team, Bruce rapidly built out Chatr's network on a brand new, independent technology / customer systems platform, and helped effectively realize Chatr’s critical product, marketing and retail sales strategies.
At Rogers Communications, he served as Interim VP/IT with divisional CIO accountabilities on the Wireless Senior Leadership team, building on a prior IT portfolio for Wireless Data Services and Rogers Business Systems (Cable Enterprise & Wholesale). He drove strategic programs, operating cost reductions & working capital efficiencies across the board, and a plethora of initiatives ranging from major migrations from Sprint USA & Group Telecom to iPhone / Android product launches and content / user platforms critical to data growth.
Bruce earlier helped Primus Telecommunications improve it’s Canadian network & diversify it’s product base to offset LD revenue decline. Alongside highly strategic Prepaid, Local CLEC, ADSL access & VoIP initiatives, he helped enter the Canadian wireless industry initially as an MVNO, and the later funding and staging of two 3.5GHz WiMAX trial networks in Hamilton & Toronto - among the first worldwide.
As Chief Engineer for the Thuraya Mobile Satellite Company, Bruce helped develop an idea into a commercial mobile satellite venture. Achievements with this US$1.2Billion program over 5 years included the launch of two Geo-synchronous Mobile satellites in partnership with Boeing, development of the Ground Segment and Telecommunications network, and a service provider base spread over 100 countries, with over 250,000 high value subscribers.
