Insead and the World Economic Forum released the 11th annual Global Information Technology Report in April this year. The Report examines the networked readiness of 142 developed and developing countries worldwide - accounting for over 98% of the world's GDP.

Canada ranks 9th overall in the report, earning its best marks in environment and readiness while lagging behind the best-performing countries in the usage and impacts of technology. We were in 3rd place for the quality of infrastructure and accessibility of digital content, 5th in the business and innovation environment, and 5th in skills.

Whereas Canada offers a more conducive environment, it trails the US in terms of business usage as well as economic impacts. Sweden tops the list followed by Singapore and Finland.
