A new report by IT Market Dynamics claims that IT managers are already relying on the Cloud to an extent not fully understood by the business.

Among other interesting data from respondents, figures published in the report indicate that smaller business tend to take the most advantage of the Cloud when it comes to introducing new capabilities that would have otherwise been cost / time prohibitive, while on the flip side larger companies seemed to be more inclined to think the Cloud makes staff more productive. The majority of respondents believed that the Cloud would positively impact marketing, online sales and online customer management activities to some extent.

Security is still the biggest Red Herring when it comes to cloud adoption, followed by concerns around control, lock-in and SLA challenges.
