Selling is simple the Gumroad way

The payment handling and prepaid industries have always held a special fascination for me. Perhaps because I've seen it evolve so much, or perhaps it's because of the significant amount of innovation that we continue to see in this space. If the steady upswing in retail online transactions is an indicator, this is going to be an area to watch.

Not too long ago, the process of acquiring a merchant account and selling online involved months of planning, negotiation, finicky coding and extended certification processes that never seemed to end. Things moved in slow motion.

Today there's Square, Google Checkout, and a plethora of exciting new services like Google Wallet. But for us Canadians looking for simple, quick solutions, options are still limited. One new Canadian service that's been getting a lot of press took us a week to setup for our small consultancy firm, and although the app and customer service worked great, the termination fees and merchant account related processes were brutal when we decided to end our service early. Hmm..

So we've been hearing about Gumroad for a while and I finally decided to give it a try - turns out that Canadians can use it too.
It took me a few minutes to figure out, try and form an opinion. This really was simple, in every way

...I just tweeted out loud..

Thank you Gumroad, someday all online business will be as easy as this. Expect great things!
